Hand crafted rugs
How it's Made
Follow the in depth step-by-step process on how our hand made rugs are crafted.
Step-by-Step Process
Wool dyeing process
The first step is dyeing, where we bring color and life to the wool. Our dyeing master takes great care to do this by hand, ensuring each shade is just right.
looming preparation
Next, we get the loom ready. This is a crucial step where we set up the wooden frame, stretching the yarns vertically and making sure they're snug and secure.
Weaving Process
We start weaving by laying down some cotton threads to anchor the rug. Then, we carefully tie knots and use a comb hammer to pack them tightly, creating the rug’s structure.
Washing process
Once the rug is woven, it’s time for a good wash. We do this by hand to make sure the rug is clean and has a lovely, shiny finish.
Stretching Process
After washing, we stretch the rug to get it into shape. We then apply a special glue on the back to keep everything in place and support the rug’s structure
clipping process
For a perfectly even finish, we pile the rugs and trim them to the same height. This ensures that every rug has a smooth, level surface.
Binding Process
Next, we trim the sides to straighten the edges and sew the border by hand, giving the rug a polished look.
Finishing process
Finally, we inspect the rug one last time, clipping away any stray threads to make sure it’s smooth and ready for you.
